Clothing and Preparation for Activities
Here you’ll find tips on how to dress for different activities, along with some other useful information. When dressed appropriately, you’ll stay dry and warm — allowing you to focus on enjoying the experience.
All programs listed on our website are, by default, suitable for healthy adults with normal physical fitness.
Clothing for Hiking and Nature Walks
Please wear weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for walking in nature. Regular sneakers are acceptable, but we recommend ankle-supporting hiking boots. In wet conditions, after rain, or in autumn, we suggest waterproof hiking boots with a membrane or rubber boots. Underbrush can be wet from dew even if it hasn’t rained.
We recommend wearing an outdoor shell outfit (jacket and trousers) that is water-resistant, to protect you in case of unexpected weather along the trail. If you don’t have a shell outfit, bring a rain suit just in case. Dress in layers under your outerwear according to the weather and temperature. If the weather is dry, extra clothes can be left at Yli-Takkula estate, your hotel, your own car, or our vehicle, depending on the location.
In cooler or cold weather, bring a hat and gloves. We typically walk on forest paths and sometimes on outdoor trails, depending on the location. The final route will be chosen based on factors like hike duration, weather, daylight, and group needs. Trails are always easy to moderate, and the walking pace is relaxed so we can enjoy the surroundings — unless otherwise agreed. Upon request, the route, length, and duration can be adjusted in advance.
In winter and cold conditions, wear warm outdoor clothing with sufficient mid-layers underneath. Warm winter gloves or mittens, a warm hat, and insulated footwear are essential.

For snowshoeing, choose sturdy winter boots that rise well above the ankle so the snowshoe straps attach properly.
Clothing for Activities in Yards, Parks, or Other Easy Terrain
Same recommendations as for hiking and winter activities (see above). Ankle-supporting boots may not be necessary. Bring a warm mid-layer (e.g., fleece, wool sweater, lightweight down jacket) especially if your program includes more static activities like problem-solving tasks, archery, or blowpipe shooting.
Clothing for Fat-Bike and Kick-Bike Activities
Follow the same instructions as for hiking, but consider layering, so you can adjust your clothing depending on how much you sweat during the ride. On muddy trails, wheels may splash dirt and water, so choose clothing accordingly.
Protect your eyes with glasses — for branches, splashes, and insects (especially in summer and autumn). Sunglasses on sunny days. If your hands are prone to chafing, bring grippy gloves. In cool or cold weather, wear a BUFF or thin cycling/skiing beanie under your helmet (thick beanies don’t fit under helmets). We recommend bringing your own helmet, but helmets are provided by the organizer if needed.
Clothing for Raft Paddling Activities (still water, on lakes or sea)
Same instructions as for hiking (see above). Prepare with waterproof shoes and clothing. On the water, wind usually feels stronger and colder than on land. Waves can splash against the raft and get your pants wet in windy weather. Rain or strong winds can also cause water to collect on the bottom of the raft and soak your shoes.
On a beautiful, calm summer day, shorts, a t-shirt, and even bare feet are fine.
If you want to take pictures during the rafting trip, keep your phone or camera in a waterproof pouch or ziplock bag.
Clothing for Kayak or Canoe Trips
For kayaking, bring a wind-/waterproof jacket. On hot days, a t-shirt and outdoor trousers (or shorts in warm weather) will do — just be aware your pants may get a little wet. Sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen are recommended on sunny days. Use thin-soled shoes like sandals, sneakers, or neoprene shoes. In warm weather, bare feet are also fine in a kayak.
For canoeing (open-style or Canadian canoes), wear the same as above, but also include waterproof pants and regular outdoor shoes such as sneakers or hiking shoes.
It’s always possible to get wet during paddling trips, so we recommend bringing a change of clothes for afterward.
Clothing for the Rescue Suit Activity
For this water-heavy activity, participants must arrive wearing their own long-sleeved and long-legged workout/fleece/sweatsuit outfit and socks. The organizer provides the rest of the gear.
Because there is always a small risk of getting wet, bring a change of clothes to wear after the activity.
When booking this activity, the client must provide the following details for all participants:
- Gender
- Height in centimeters
- Normal clothing size (S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL)
- If the participant has a particularly large waist or chest compared to their clothing size, please inform us (in cm) so we can ensure proper fit and availability of suits.
Clothing for Fire Art School
Wear normal weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, as for yard/park activities (see above). Before working with fire, we offer protective gear for those who want it: a cotton overall, gloves, and a beanie to protect from soot and fire equipment.
Additional Info & Tips
Eventure offers rain ponchos for rent, which can be worn over your outdoor gear. Please reserve in advance if needed.
The customer/event organizer should ensure all participants receive the necessary info about clothing and gear well before the event.
Check the latest weather forecast for your activity location the night before and again on the morning of the event (e.g., from Foreca).
Other tips:
- Bring any personal medications you may need and inform the organizer of their use, if necessary.
- Please notify the organizer of any serious illnesses or allergies (e.g., epilepsy, heart disease, severe allergies to insect stings or snake bites, etc.).
- Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or want more details.
Warm regards,
The Eventure Team
